Long time to see...

It's been awhile since I've posted. We jumped on a plane for a vacation to Seattle with a side trip to Victoria. This is the rising sun from the plane as we reached the mainland.
Leaving on a jet plane...
Since we've been back I've been trying to upload and organize the hundreds of photos that I took. I placed an order for prints, but learned that the Mister took almost 200 photos on his phone. He has a good eye and I hope to get some prints out of those, too. Hopefully I'll be back to posting regularly sometime soon...

Wisp - WIP

WispYou probably already know about Knitty, right? I love to browse each issue when it is published and can usually find a few patterns to add to my every growing to-do list. Wisp is from the Summer 2007 issue.

The 15 row repeat is easy to remember, except for the edging which repeats every 5 rows... I've done 45 rows so far and have missed quite a few of the edge repeats... haven't decided whether I should continue or start again...

Looking for an early dinner? We stopped at Gyotaku for their early bird special. W-F 4:00-6:00 pm. It comes with the tempura and the sushi, I chose Karaage chicken. Yummy!

Yellow and Orange...

Have you guessed yet? It's a giraffe! The pattern is in Itty-Bitty Toys by Susan B. Anderson.
It's bigger than the other toys that I have been making. I have the body, head and 3 legs stitched. A leg, ears, horns and a bunch of pom-poms to go. I'm using Brittany dpns in size 4 and loving it.

20 flowers fob - DONE!

20 flowed fobThere are many pieces to the 20 flowers project. The scissors case came with a chart for a fob and I also purchased the "And Many More..." needle case chart.
After I finished the scissors case, I worked on the fob. 1 over 1 on 28 count linen... not my favorite way to stitch. It's a good thing there was a lot of extra silks. After a few false starts, here is the stitched fob. Smaller than a dime... perfect size for a scissors fob.

365 rainbows

I've started a flickr set to collect my rainbow photos. My goal is to have a rainbow photo taken on each day of the year. It may take me awhile to achieve my goal, but it will be fun trying. You can find the set here. Only 5 photos so far. I'll have to remember to take a pic instead of just admiring them now.

Haruni - Blocked

Remember this? I finally pulled out the blocking wires and blocked Haruni. It turned out larger than I expected, but it will be perfect to ward off a chill. Sorry I couldn't get a full shot of the shawl. My unconventional blocking method makes it a hard to get a full pic. The edges rounded out nicely I'll try to get a better picture eventually.

Naulilus Mitts - DONE!

Nautilus Mitts - DONEMitts are done! (you get to see them in bad lighting phone pics, sorry).
It will definately keep you hands warm. I'm thinking the the palms may start to felt with use and that should reduce the bulk. Overall I pleased with the results.

Nautilus Mitts - DONE

Used about half a skein for this project. Back into the stash pile it goes, while I look for something that will use the 2 1/2 skeins that I have left.

Happy September! - Nautilus Mitts WIP

Did you see these in the Summer Issue of Interweave Knits? You know, neither did I. But I accidentally included the magazine in a box that I sent mom and she saw them. The orginal plan was to use the cotton that is called for... No such luck finding it here. I pulled out a skein of Araucania Coliumo Multy (70% wool, 30% silk) that I had in my stash and cast on.

I wasn't sure about this yarn - had a bit of trouble winding from the hank. But oh, my, it is easy to knit with. I love it! The first side knit up quickly... size 10 needles, bulky yarn... I'm loving the formula. The pattern is easy to memorize. You make to parts with the swirl changing direction. A simple garter stitch joins it together. One more to go, then weave ends and seam...
