More progress on the elephant - WIP

The elephant is almost complete! Just some straps and a drawstring to go. I ran out of yarn while doing the first strap. An email to the company righted that situation and I have a bit more yarn to finish the second strap and drawstring.  

Crochet a zoo - WIP

I didn't give up, I'm still working on the Crochet a Zoo playmat. It took awhile to weave in all of the ends in the body of this blanket. I even finished the border. I may have picked up too many stitches on the long side, it's a bit wavy.  The greens don't have enough contrast, but my choices were limited, so I'm happy with what I got so far.

The weather has been a humid, so there is not chance of me sitting under the blanket to work on the single crochet detail on the front.

Still a lot more to go... felt trees and stones need to be created, but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!
 

Felt Ornaments - DONE!

I worked on these during my lunch hour in December and finished them up as the New Year started. I loved stitching them! Stitching is the fun part, now if only I could convince someone to cut out the pieces for me, I would put together another set! The felt pack that I ordered will definitely make two sets. If you are very careful when laying out your pattern, you may be able to squeeze out three sets. Benzie Designs also had a floss pack, but I pulled floss from my stash. I'll be sure to include these ornaments on my tree next year.

Elephant backpack - WIP

I hope that the holidays provided lots of memories to tuck away in your scrapbooks! As always, I wish I had taken more photos. I have lots of smiles and happy moments tucked away in my head. I managed to make some progress on the project front - here is the first of my updates.

I promise, it looks the same, but there is progress being made on this backpack. I need about 2 more inches to finish up the body. I love the color - real elephant-y!

Elepant Backpack - WIP

I notice that when I make an impulse buy, it is best to start on it right away. Or at least keep it near so I don't forget about it. Earlier this year I ordered a kit to make an Elephant backpack. With the little guy running circles around me, I have found that kits are the way to go. Everything I need is in the bag to start. The kit came with 3 skeins of Morehouse Merino Gator Yarn in two shades of Pebble. I casted on last month and got about half of the bag portion done. It's a simple slip stitch pattern that gives this elephant its texture. Another "slowly, but surely" for me to work on when time permits.

Felt Ornaments

Have you ever done one of those Felt Christmas Ornaments? I've always want to, but never did. Then I saw this blog post at Wild Olive. Aren't they cute? You can find the pattern at the Wild Olive Etsy shop. Once you get the pattern, hop on over to Benzie Design to check out the felt pack that is put together just for this ornament pattern. You can even pick up the coordinating floss for the design. I ordered the felt. Just a few more pieces to cut out, floss to pull and I can start stitching.

Crochet a Zoo Playmat - WIP

Did you see it? The Crochet a Zoo Playmat. The book, Crochet a Zoo by Megan Kreiner, has been on my wishlist since it came out. You can find all the details on the Ravelry page, including the link to the FREE pattern. There was a sale on Cascade 220 at the craft store, so I stocked up and got out my hooks. I don't think got the contrast right for the greens, but so far so good don't you think? This is about a third of the way on the main portion. Then there is a border of single and double crochet. It's going faster than I though it would. I probably start weaving some of those ends in and not leave it ALL until the end.
