Sweet Tea anyone?

I randomly enter online contests and promptly forget about it. I mean really, what are the chances that my name will get picked out of the hundreds, maybe thousands of entries. It is much easier these days to enter contests, just fill out a form with your name, address and email. Lo and behold, I received an email not long ago to confirm my mailing address, as I was the winner of a Pure Leaf Basket. What? They got the info right and I didn't have to respond if the information was correct, so once again I promptly forgot about it. Imagine my surprise when a good sized box showed up on my door step. Nope I don't remember ordering anything from that return address. Let's see what it is... Iced tea!
Well what do you know? It is a prize from the monthly drawings sponsored by All You Magazine. It is a collapsible picnic basket filled with a variety of flavors of Lipton Pure Leaf Tea, ranging from unsweetened to Peach. The tea is delicious, not to sweet and very refreshing. I love it. Thank you All You!

A long break

Ti leaf
It's been a big break since my last post and I've been meaning to get back to it. Slowly but surely I will find a way to work on my projects and get some posts up. I have worked on some owls, have some monkey parts to sew together... Hopefully soon I'll have pictures and a post. And somehow I'll get the holidays done too!

Goodbye 2011

IMG_0004

2011 has been a year of change in our household. Blogging has taken a back seat. Hopefully, we will settle in a better routine and have a bit of time for crafting.
Have a safe New Year's Celebration!

A new vacuum

VacuumWe needed a vacuum. The old one works, but the canister handle is broken. It has been broken for a long time. I have been trying to justify the price of a Dyson, but just couldn't do it. We decided to get a cheaper vacuum and couldn't be happier! The sticker on the front even compares itself to a Dyson, too funny!

Why didn't we do this sooner, instead of struggling with a broken vacuum?!

Blog list

I am always looking for craft blogs to visit for ideas and inspiration. Here's a great site that lists the blogs of 123 stitchers. Stop by and see what everyone is up to!

Thanks Rita for putting the information together in one place!

Snow!

Snow? Not here in Honolulu, but up in the Pacific Northwest. Mom was very excited with the first snowfall this week and I got many updates, so I'm sharing them with you.
The first is after one hour, the second was taken on the next day.

Stay warm everyone. Or hop on a plane and come visit me!

book 'em, danno

Filming 5-0Shh...this photo was taken while waiting at a red light. I drive by this corner almost every day on my home from work. About once a week, it is filled with trucks and equipment. So, what are they doing? They are filming Hawaii 5-0 of course!

Really, this is just the lighting, the actual filming is going on inside the building. I'm not out and about during the day, so chances of catching the an outdoor scene with real actors is just about zilch. But I'm keeping my eye out for them...  Just watch for all the street closures...

Long time to see...

It's been awhile since I've posted. We jumped on a plane for a vacation to Seattle with a side trip to Victoria. This is the rising sun from the plane as we reached the mainland.
Leaving on a jet plane...
Since we've been back I've been trying to upload and organize the hundreds of photos that I took. I placed an order for prints, but learned that the Mister took almost 200 photos on his phone. He has a good eye and I hope to get some prints out of those, too. Hopefully I'll be back to posting regularly sometime soon...

365 rainbows

I've started a flickr set to collect my rainbow photos. My goal is to have a rainbow photo taken on each day of the year. It may take me awhile to achieve my goal, but it will be fun trying. You can find the set here. Only 5 photos so far. I'll have to remember to take a pic instead of just admiring them now.

Double rainbow

The clouds have been rolling in as the sun sets, bringing light showers and rainbows... Sometimes you'll see a double rainbow...

I passed the 100 post mark last week...  Thanks for joining me....

look and see

Kawaiaha'o ChurchI noticed that I like to take photos of the sun peeking out from behind things. Back in January, I went to see the Hawaiian Flag Quilt exhibit at the Mission Houses. Across the street is the famous Kawaiaha'o Church. Built in the late 1830s, is constructed of coral rock from the reef offshore. A impressive site to see if you are in the area.

Kawaiaha'o Church gate
Anyway...while looking for alphabet charts, I came across this website. It's been around for awhile and I always wanted to create one for myself. You really have to be observant to catch letters created by nature, but if it's placed very prominently on a gate at eye level... how can you miss it? I saw this as I was leaving the church grounds. I'll have my camera out on my next vacation to snap some alphabet shots. Maybe I'll find enough to create some gifts for Christmas...

on my camera

sunriseI always carry my camera with me. And sometimes, I even pull it out to take random shots. So I figured, I would dig through my files and randomly put them up for you to see... yup that means, I got nothing to report on my projects... hope you enjoy today's photo...

This one was taken from Ala Moana Park. The sun was just peeking out from behind the mountains while we finished our walk.

No project photos today...

Rainbow
No project photos today. Still working on my Cubist Socks and 20 Flowers, but no real progress to show since the last time. The rainbow above was taken the other week as the morning sun tried to break through the dark rain clouds. The sky looked very similar this morning except for the rainbow. Out one window, it looks like we're in for a downpour and out another window, fluffy white clouds are floating in a blue sky...
Lucky you live Hawaii.
