20 flowers fob - DONE!

20 flowed fobThere are many pieces to the 20 flowers project. The scissors case came with a chart for a fob and I also purchased the "And Many More..." needle case chart.
After I finished the scissors case, I worked on the fob. 1 over 1 on 28 count linen... not my favorite way to stitch. It's a good thing there was a lot of extra silks. After a few false starts, here is the stitched fob. Smaller than a dime... perfect size for a scissors fob.

20 Flowers - DONE

20 FlowersCare to join me in my happy dance? I finished the stitching on the 20 Flowers scissors case. Frogged the initials - and complete the date. It still needs the charm, but I will stitch it on just before I assemble the case.

There should be enough material  left to stitch the scissor fob. I will be working on the matching needle case next.

20 flowers - update20 flowers - initials

So I stitched my initials using the alphabet chart provided. Take a look - what do you think my initials are? Nope - it's not HH... it should be KK. Guess, I'll be putting this project on the side for a bit while I search for a better K to stitch on this...

20 Flowers update

Got some flowers up around the fence since my last post. They took a bit of time counting and changing colors. But now it should be smooth sailing. The border, a block for the date and the my initials in the left block and then it will be ready for assembly. Well, waiting in the assembly line queue anyway...

A bit more progress - 20 flowers

20 Flowers 07/22/201020 Flowers - 7/22/2010A bit more progress this week on 20 Flowers. You can't really see it, but the white of the sheep is done in smyrna crosses. It raises  the stitch just a bit. Slowly, but surely I'm getting to the end. Not bad for picking this up during my lunch hour a few days a week.

20 Flowers - WIP

Tiny one over one stitches are not my favorite way to stitch. However, in small doses, the effect is worth it. These pups still need eyes and collars, but the look so dainty.

Making progress, slowly, but surely... I hope I can iron that crease out of the fabric.

20 Flowers - update

After a week long hiatus, I'm back with updates...

I'm almost done with the first side of 20 Flowers. Working the aminals 1 over 1 is a chore when the lighting is bad. I haven't decided on the initial to stitch in the box, so I'll come back to it at the end. There is very little backstitching, so I'll also save that for the end.

20 Flowers - WIP

Here's my 20 Flowers update for last week. I worked on this during my lunch hours at work, so the the progress is slow, but at least it's starting to look look like something. The piece is outlined in Wild Violets Overdyed Silk.

20 flowers...

Starting on the first of the 20 flowers. There should be 20 flowers in the design to represent the 20 years that the shop has been in business, hence the name of the chart. I started with the rose on the flap. Here's my progess after lunch on Friday. This should be a fairly quick stitch. The silk is wonderful to work with.  I

20 Flowers by Just Nan - WIP

Way back when (apparently it was 2004), I purchased these limited edition kits by Just Nan from The Silver Needle. They were designed to celebrate The Silver Needle's 20th anniversary.

I intended to stitch it as soon as it arrived, but that never happened. New projects are added to the ever growing list. So here we are in 2010 and it's still sitting in the stash. Until yesterday, that is. After the two not so great ends to my last knitting projects (short scarf and tight bind off), I'm picking up a cross stitch project. Don't get me wrong, I still hear socks calling me... and will probably cast on something very soon. But putting needle to fabric seems like a refreshing change of pace.
Here's what the contents of the kit. It contains silk floss and cashel linen. Not too thrilled about working on linen, but the finished product should be beautiful. I love how the floss is neatly carded and a floss color card is included, so there is time wasted sorting the silks.

I've put a few stitches in and will post an update next time...
