See - quick finish! Well almost done anyway... I need to find 3 large buttons complete it. Not really a rush because we don't really use cowls here in the land of partly sunny, 80 degree weather... hey momma - looks like this one is headed your way once the buttons are attached...

Double rainbow
The clouds have been rolling in as the sun sets, bringing light showers and rainbows... Sometimes you'll see a double rainbow...
I passed the 100 post mark last week... Thanks for joining me....

Elephants - WIP
I was looking for something small and fun to stitch for my next knitting project. Aren't these the cutest elephants... It is a free pattern on ravelry.
I'm using some left over acrylic, worsted weight on size 2 double points.

20 Flowers - DONE
Care to join me in my happy dance? I finished the stitching on the 20 Flowers scissors case. Frogged the initials - and complete the date. It still needs the charm, but I will stitch it on just before I assemble the case.
There should be enough material left to stitch the scissor fob. I will be working on the matching needle case next.

Scalloped Caps - DONE!
Two scalloped caps are done. I finished the purple cap. A quick, easy to memorize pattern. I used Caron Simply Soft for easy care. The color in theeh photo is not true, but you can see the pattern. I decided not to do the french knots on the top or the crochet edging for this cap. Lovely, isn't it?
Since I didn't decide on my next project, I cast on for a second cap. This time using a cream color with a gold thread running through it. Again, acrylic for easy care.

look and see
I noticed that I like to take photos of the sun peeking out from behind things. Back in January, I went to see the Hawaiian Flag Quilt exhibit at the Mission Houses. Across the street is the famous Kawaiaha'o Church. Built in the late 1830s, is constructed of coral rock from the reef offshore. A impressive site to see if you are in the area.
Anyway...while looking for alphabet charts, I came across this website. It's been around for awhile and I always wanted to create one for myself. You really have to be observant to catch letters created by nature, but if it's placed very prominently on a gate at eye level... how can you miss it? I saw this as I was leaving the church grounds. I'll have my camera out on my next vacation to snap some alphabet shots. Maybe I'll find enough to create some gifts for Christmas...

cast on a cap
May I say once again, I love my library? On my last trip, I found this book:
I've passed on previous editions, but since this one I could borrow and browse I added it to my stack of books. I love that the projects are categorized by yarn weights. A quick flip to the worsted section led me to a hat pattern. The original project calls for Noro Silk Garden to create the striped effect, but for my hospice knitting, I chose an easy care acrylic. My old standby Caron Simply Soft Eco.

Kissing pillow tops...
I found enough 14 count aida to stitch 2 kissing pillows. It is a quick project. I started it while waiting in the doctor's office and finished up the stars after we got home.
Now all I need to do is prepare an envelope and mail it off. I have some patriotic fabric that I'll be sending with these for the backing.
I plan to keep this chart around and when I come across the proper fabric I'll be sure to stitch some up to be ready for the next request.

Cubist Socks - DONE!
I am very happy to report that the Cubist socks are complete! Takes a bit more imagination to see the cubes while I'm wearing the socks, they are more visible in the second photo. The leg consists of two repeats. My stitch count didn't match the instrucitons after the heal turn. I had 66 stitches for the foot, 33 for the top of the foot and 33 for the sole. I stopped the toe with 38 stiches total and grafted it together. Pretty cool pattern...

on my camera
I always carry my camera with me. And sometimes, I even pull it out to take random shots. So I figured, I would dig through my files and randomly put them up for you to see... yup that means, I got nothing to report on my projects... hope you enjoy today's photo...
This one was taken from Ala Moana Park. The sun was just peeking out from behind the mountains while we finished our walk.

Cubist sock - update
Finished the first side of the Cubist socks late last week. I was really happy to get them off the needles and start the second side until I noticed that I didn't follow directions very well. When you start the repeats for the leg, you need to compensate 2 stitches for the shift in the pattern. That means you knit 2 then move your marker to change the start point for the next repeat. I caught the adjustment when doing the repeat on the leg. Well, you also need to make the adjustment when you finish the cuff and move to the leg. See it?
Yeah, I thought so too... no one is going to notice, can live with it...so I went on my merry way and continued on to finish the sock. But after I cast off, I noticed this! See it!?! I certainly do. This one is opposite the heel turn, so that would been ripping back half of the sock. I certainly don't want to make that decision right now, so I put it on the side and started side two. The only good thing about this photo below, is that the color is pretty accurate.

20 Flowers update
Got some flowers up around the fence since my last post. They took a bit of time counting and changing colors. But now it should be smooth sailing. The border, a block for the date and the my initials in the left block and then it will be ready for assembly. Well, waiting in the assembly line queue anyway...
