Double rainbow

The clouds have been rolling in as the sun sets, bringing light showers and rainbows... Sometimes you'll see a double rainbow...

Elephant - DONE

Elephant - assembly required

The individual parts are complete, but assembly is required. Very simple actually. Stuff, stitch and trim and without further ado - Ellie the pastel elephant.
ElephantI haven't decided if I will be adding any embriodery to her. I think the mottled pastel color is quite nice as it is...

Elephant - DONEShe has already been on a walk outside. Looking for peanuts, no doubt.

Elephants - WIP

ElephantsI was looking for something small and fun to stitch for my next knitting project. Aren't these the cutest elephants... It is a free pattern on ravelry.
I'm using some left over acrylic, worsted weight on size 2 double points.

20 Flowers - DONE

20 FlowersCare to join me in my happy dance? I finished the stitching on the 20 Flowers scissors case. Frogged the initials - and complete the date. It still needs the charm, but I will stitch it on just before I assemble the case.

There should be enough material  left to stitch the scissor fob. I will be working on the matching needle case next.

Scalloped Caps - DONE!

Scalloped capTwo scalloped caps are done. I finished the purple cap. A quick, easy to memorize pattern. I used Caron Simply Soft for easy care.  The color in theeh photo is not true, but you can see the pattern. I decided not to do the french knots on the top or the crochet edging for this cap. Lovely, isn't it?

Since I didn't decide on my next project, I cast on for a second cap. This time using a cream color with a gold thread running through it. Again, acrylic for easy care.

This time I altered the decreases to mimic the pattern, sort of. I went back to the start and added the crochet chain edging.

Two more caps to add to the hospice pile. If the weather stays nice, all the hats will be washed this weekend and packed for the trip to Hilo hospice.

look and see

Kawaiaha'o ChurchI noticed that I like to take photos of the sun peeking out from behind things. Back in January, I went to see the Hawaiian Flag Quilt exhibit at the Mission Houses. Across the street is the famous Kawaiaha'o Church. Built in the late 1830s, is constructed of coral rock from the reef offshore. A impressive site to see if you are in the area.

Anyway...while looking for alphabet charts, I came across this website. It's been around for awhile and I always wanted to create one for myself. You really have to be observant to catch letters created by nature, but if it's placed very prominently on a gate at eye level... how can you miss it? I saw this as I was leaving the church grounds. I'll have my camera out on my next vacation to snap some alphabet shots. Maybe I'll find enough to create some gifts for Christmas...

20 flowers - update20 flowers - initials

So I stitched my initials using the alphabet chart provided. Take a look - what do you think my initials are? Nope - it's not HH... it should be KK. Guess, I'll be putting this project on the side for a bit while I search for a better K to stitch on this...
